Kotdwar Facebook Dispute Leads to Threat Case Against Gym Trainer

A social media dispute in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand, has reportedly escalated into a serious police case involving alleged threats and abusive language. Police arrested gym trainer Deepak Kumar Kashyap, known online as Mohammed Deepak, after a confrontation at a clothing shop owned by Sanjeev Tang.

The dispute reportedly began after a Facebook comment by Sanjeev’s brother, Arvind, on a video posted by Deepak on September 28. The video discussed protests in Ujjain and called for peace and communal harmony. Following the online exchange, Deepak allegedly confronted Sanjeev at his shop and issued threats, including an alleged death threat.

Police have registered a non-bailable case and are examining CCTV footage and other evidence related to the incident. Deepak was subsequently produced before a court.

The case has drawn attention because Deepak had previously gained social media recognition for intervening during a communal dispute and supporting an elderly Muslim shopkeeper. The investigation remains ongoing, and further legal action will depend on the evidence and court proceedings.
